Keeping Track® is an organization devoted to providing technical training to professional biologists, citizen scientist volunteers, land trust officials and conservation planners.  We are intent on empowering multiple stakeholders who will use this knowledge to better detect, record and monitor the status of wildlife and habitat in their communities.

Winter Wildlife Tracking Field Workshop

Hosted by Audubon Vermont
Date: Saturday, February 25, 2012
Time: 8:15 a.m - 4 p.m.
Meeting place: Richmond Park and Ride; carpool to Wolfrun in Jericho, Vermont

Join Sue Morse of Keeping Track and Steven Hagenbuch of Audubon Vermont for a full day of wildlife tracking at Wolfrun in Jericho, Vermont. Discover sign of bobcat, black bear, fisher and moose. Visit a remote camera site for bobcat. Explore different forest bird habitat and consider management options that support both birds and mammals. Hiking will be moderate, on and off trails. Be sure to bring a lunch and be dressed for a day of outdoor hiking in winter Vermont woods. Snowshoes are recommended.

Keeping Track: A Wildlife Tracking Presentation and Slide Show with Susan Morse

Join us Wednesday, February 1st for an exciting presentation and slide-show by wildlife ecologist and Keeping Track founder Susan Morse. Susan will present the audience with her amazing photography, stories from her 37 years in the field, as well as provide methods and tips to improve your abilities to make sense of the animal tracks and signs that you find in our northern fields and woods. Participants will also have the opportunity to sign up for a full-day tracking workshop at Keeping Track’s Wolfrun in Jericho, Vermont on February 16. BEARS in the City (A More Common Occurrence) - Susan Morse's interview with Tom Crann of Minnesota Public Radio

Susan Morse was contacted by the Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) News on December 19, 2011 for her comments following the shooting of a black bear near downtown St. Paul, Minnesota. MPR graciously sent us an edited transcript of that interview for their “All Things Considered” program. In the interview Sue shares excellent insight into the perils bears experience when living in areas of continuously expanding human development.

Keeping Track’s Susan Morse will be presenting a program, hosted by Birds of Vermont Museum, about Black Bears.

Join her for a Power Point presentation and/or a full day field trip to discover where and how to find sign of Black Bear, and learn about their biology, habitat requirements, and importance as a member of our ecosystem.

Live Wolves are Coming to Vermont!

Keeping Track® is bringing Mission:Wolf and their Ambassador Wolves to Vermont for a program that we are co-sponsoring with Saint Michael’s College.

Susan Morse, of Keeping Track®, will introduce the evening with an educational Power Point presentation using amazing photographs taken during her many years of field research. Her program, entitled “Room at the Top”, will discuss the wolf’s role as an apex predator, and their importance in maintaining healthy ecosystems.
